It's true that a simple keyboard doesn't cost too much nowadays and the price of mechanical keyboards does seem to be relatively high at first glance. But, once you've experienced the advantages of mechanical keyboards, then there's no doubt you'll understand that the investment you've chosen to make is well worth it.
As opposed to simple rubber dome keyboards, mechanical keyboards last much longer. They allow for about 50 million keystrokes until they need replacing. –That's compared with just 5 million keystrokes for rubber dome keyboards. Plus, not only do the high quality and workmanship speak for themselves, the unique typing feel, made possible by the mechanical contacts, is what really counts.
Some of the most popular mechanical keyboards come from the manufacturer Ducky. Their range of high-quality devices feature amazing layouts and are available in different versions to fit your personal needs. With LEDs, as a Tenkeyless version, with multimedia keys and so on...
Of course, all our Ducky keyboards have the n-key rollover feature which means that the keyboard registers every key separately, regardless of how many keys you press at the same time. This helps you reduce your typing errors and increase your typing speed.
To make your decision a bit easier, there's an overview of the various switches at the bottom of this article.
3 models are available and they ALL come with a German layout:
Shine 3 DK9087 Tenkeyless
Tenkeyless variants lack the numeric keypad on the right side and are thus much more ergonomic. Your mouse hand is closer to the keyboard and your arms don't need to be spread out. If you need a numpad from time to time, you can still buy a separate one ;).
The following versions of this variant are available:
-Brown switches with blue LEDs.
Zero DK2108
This is Ducky's entry-level mechanical keyboard. Its aim is to return to its roots. Still, it offers the basic advantages, such as n-key rollover via USB (switchable to 6-key rollover) and a perfect typing experience. The illuminated version (S) offers different lighting modes (backlight, breathing mode and 8 different brightness levels, including off).
The following versions of this variant are available:
-Red switches with blue LEDs
Blue Switches: Tactile switch points, loud clicks, this version is a dream come true for writing maniacs! Gamers might need to get used to this kind of switch, but will end up loving it too!
Brown Switches: Tactile switch points, but quieter. –This version is ideal for ease of use and for not driving workmates and flatmates crazy with noise!
Red Switches: linear switch points, extremely quiet. –A little more difficult to use because of the non-resistant pressure points. This is often chosen by Asian gamers (meaning, you need skill to use this keyboard!).
